TOWNS & VILLAGES
High Weald is dotted with historic towns and picturesque villages amid the rolling hills, ancient woods and open heaths.
The historic spa town of Tunbridge Wells, founded in the 1600s, attracted royals and aristocracy for its healing waters. The Pantiles is a stunning colonnaded promenade with independent shops, cafes, galleries and the famous healing spring that made it a spa town.
Cuckfield is a historic village with coaching inns, antique shops and a genteel feel; Hartfield Village is walking distance from Highfields and the heart of Winnie-the-Pooh country; and Forest Row with a bohemian vibe, artsy cafes sits as the gateway to Ashdown Forest.
Groombride, Withyam and Penshurst each have their own charm, village greens, quaint pubs, and all provide a starting point for trips to local castles and gardens.
Or drive a little further to 1066 Country – starting at Hastings for fish and chips, coastal walks, and nearby Battle where William and Harold came to blows at the Norman Conquest which defines the area.
For a bigger day out for those who have come from further afield – we are on the outskirts of London and a trip in to the capital city is easy, only an hour by train from Tunbridge Wells to London Bridge.
