It’s just a short drive to the historic spa town of Tunbridge Wells, or take the steam train from Groombridge.

The whole area is steeped in history from Norman lords to Tudor ironmasters, poets, and rebels. Visit sites dating back to the Norman conquest, like Groombridge Place (said to be haunted by a lady in white), Penshurst Place and Hever Castle. Dense woods with ancient roots, sacred springs and hidden wells – like stepping in to a fable. Follow the ancient river Medway on bike, foot or canoe in search of kingfishers, wagtails, herons, and the ghosts of smugglers past.
