AUTUMN EVENTS

Autumn at the estate is particularly beautiful as the trees change to reddish brown, the ancient forest floor transforms into a bed of leaves and the cosy evenings set in. Sheffield Park is particularly lovely to visit in Autumn, famous for its four large lakes and stunning seasonal colours.

HALLOWEEN

There’s plenty of family fun to be had for Halloween around our special corner of East Sussex and Kent.

At Tully’s – Europe’s largest scream park -they go all out for Shocktober and Drusilla’s Park zoo transforms for Shriek Week. And the Bluebell Railway transforms into a spooky ghost train.

Hever Castle goes into full Halloween mode for half term with costumes encouraged and a pumpkin trail round the grounds. Borde Hill offers magic shows, creepy creature encounters and even slime making. Kids can follows a spooky trail at Battle Abbey. And Bewl Water has spine chilling adventures from Halloween trail to haunted lazer tag, all washed down with a Witches Brew slushie.

FIREWORKS NIGHT

There are plenty of fireworks displays and bonfire night celebrations to choose from in the area. From historic torchlit processions at Buxted, Burgess, and Northam; to the bonfire at Uckfield to the children’s fetes and carnivals at Chapel Green and Rotherfield. Hastings offers a spectacular event including a torchlit procession with fireworks along the route, drumming, a bonfire, an effigy and the grand finale firework display on the beach. Battle follows a Guy-Burning tradition which dates back over 200 years.

CHRISTMAS AT THE ESTATE

Winter is a lovely time of year to come and get cosy in our cabins and cottages. And we provide Christmas decorations throughout December to help you feel festive.

In November and December the Spa Valley Steam Railway transforms into the Polar Express with a special visit from Santa himself.

Tunbridge Wells goes all out for Christmas, from the switching on of the lights in Mid November, to Christmas markets, Santa’s grotto, outdoor ice rink and Panto at the assembly hall theatre.

Bewl Water offers festive fun including a waterside Christmas event and a woodland adventure. Check out the Christmas Calendar of events at Hever Castle. or visit the magical Christmas Light Trails  at Leeds Castle or Bedgebury

Most of the local pubs offer Christmas menus, try the beef from our estate served at the Bottlehurst Inn, or roaring fires and Christmas feasts at the Gourdhurst Inn.
