Cycling routes

The Garden of England offers some of the most scenic cycling routes in the country, with a mix of woodland trails, rolling countryside, and historic landscapes. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or a casual cyclist, there’s something for everyone. Bikes can be rented from nearby Forest Row.

Medway Valley Walk

The River Medway rises at High Weald and flows East through Hartfield, Ashurst and Penshurst through to Tonbridge and beyond. In Roman and Medieval times it was vital for transport and defence, now it is a haven for species of wildlife including kingfishers, wagtails, and otters have started returning to some parts of the river. It’s possible to walk most of the length of the river, beginning your trip at Highfield Estate.

Broadwater Warren
